Students living in Ware who wish to pursue a vocational education in high school will apply to Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School (PRVTHS) in Palmer. The application process to PRVTHS is competitive and students must apply online. Below is information regarding the application process and application deadlines.

Process

  1. Students apply online through the PRVTHS website (students that do not have access to a computer should contact their school counselor or PRVTHS directly).

  1. Once the student completes the application, they must notify their school counselor so that supporting documents can be uploaded by the school counselor.

  2. In most cases, students applying to PRVTHS will be interviewed as part of the application process. In many instances, this will happen at Ware Junior Senior High School, but students may be asked to go to PRVTHS for the interview in some instances.

 Criteria

Current 8th grade students applying for admission as a 9th grader

When being considered for admission, a student’s attendance, discipline and grades from both 7th and 8th grade are considered, in addition to counselor recommendation and student interview. Admission is competitive, so having very good grades, minimal absences and discipline, increases a student’s chances of being accepted.

Current 9th and 10th grade students applying for admission

The current and previous year’s attendance, discipline and grades weigh heavily in the admission decision, as does the counselor recommendation and student interview. Additionally, the shop (or area of study) that the applicant is interested in studying is also a factor due to availability and open slots within that shop. There may be many students applying for very few open spots in a specific shop, thus making that admittance to that specific shop even more competitive.

Deadlines

  • Students applying as an 8th grader for acceptance as a 9th grade student for the following school-year should apply by the conclusion of 2nd quarter or by the first Friday in February whichever comes sooner.

  • Students in 9th and 10th grades that apply during the school-year for same

  • school-year admittance, must do so by the first Friday in November.

  • Students in 9th and 10th grades wishing to apply for admittance to PRVTHS for the following school year should apply by the conclusion of 2nd quarter or by the first Friday in February whichever comes sooner.

**Students applying to vocational schools other than PRVTHS are strongly advised to contact the school directly to discuss admission criteria and application deadlines. In many cases those schools have an April 1st deadline for non-resident/non-member district applicants, but it is best to verify that with the school in question, well before April in case they have a different deadline or refer you to PRVTHS.
