A Message from the Principal

To the Ware Junior Senior High School Learning Community:

Mr. Elwell

It is with a renewed sense of optimism for continued progress, and clarity of purpose that I write to you as the Principal of Ware Junior Senior High School!

I have had the privilege of serving as Assistant Principal for the past year and a half, and I’m excited to assume the leadership responsibilities of my new role. As Principal, I plan to continue the initiatives that Dr. DiLeo and I spearheaded as we worked to create an atmosphere in which teachers can teach, and students can learn. Mr. Erik Liljegren, our new Assistant Principal, will continue to positively shape our school’s culture, and help all students meet our shared expectations. We will work tirelessly to improve the quality of the educational experience for students and faculty alike at Ware Junior Senior High School.

The next several years will present a number of challenges, including a NEASC accreditation visit, continued Common Core Curriculum integration, and the transition to PARCC. As Principal, I intend to use the relationships that I have developed over the past year and a half to lead Ware Junior Senior High School through these and any other challenges that inevitably arise.

I encourage all of you to click on the link entitled “Principal Elwell’s Entry Plan” to review the vision that I shared with the faculty in late June. Some of my objectives include celebrating student and faculty achievement, expanding pockets of instructional excellence into networks of excellence throughout the building, collaborating with student government, and thinking strategically about event planning, fundraising and the development of meaningful, working relationships with all community stakeholders.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the Principal’s Block Party on Wednesday, August 20th from 4-6pm. In the meantime, I wish you a safe and enjoyable summer!

Sincerely,

Darren C. Elwell

Principal
